Objectives: The purpose of this study is to understand the factors influencing the Baby Boom Generation¡¯s intention to move into Silver Town and the decision-making process of moving into Silver Town by applying the extended model of goal-directed behavior.
Methods: A survey of baby boom generation¡¯s in Gyeonggi-do, including Seoul, and Incheon Metropolitan City (born 1955-1963) was conducted, 400 valid samples were secured and used for final empirical analysis, and the collected data were analyzed through a structural equation model using SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 24.0.
Results: Six of the nine hypotheses were supported. Factors influencing the desire to move into Silver Town were identified as positive anticipated emotions (¥â=0.362, t=3.771, p=0.000), negative anticipated emotions (¥â=0.349, t=6.236, p=0.000), and prior knowledge (¥â=0.132, t=2.491, p=0.013). Factors influencing the intention to move into Silver Town were identified as Perceived behavioral controls (¥â=0.100, t=2.461, p=0.014), prior knowledge (¥â=0.129, t=2.866, p=0.004), and desire (¥â=0.745, t=14.814, p=0.000). Desire was confirmed to have the greatest influence in predicting the intention to move into Silver Town.
Conclusions: Desire was found to have the greatest influence on the intention to move into Silver Town and it was found that prior knowledge affects both desire and intention to move in. Operating programs to visit Silver Town or experience accommodation and it suggested that providing specific information on Silver Town in advance is important in the decision-making process of moving into Silver Town.
